Transportation

Welcome to the Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) Transportation department. It is EIPS' policy to transport eligible Kindergarten (ECS) to Grade 12 students who require transportation to and from the school they have been designated or directed to attend. Exceptions may be granted to service students who attend Special Education programs outside of their local school or who have medical conditions or disabilities that severely limit walking. Whatever the circumstances, safety, reliability and efficiency are always our guiding principles when making transportation plans and decisions.

If you have recently moved to Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, the Counties of Strathcona and Lamont, or the western portion of the County of Minburn, and are uncertain about the bus routes, bus pick-up locations or times, our Transportation department can help.

Quick Facts: Video surveillance
Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance? Video surveillance and equipment helps:

  • ensure the safety of all students, drivers and property; and
  • discourage destructive acts.

On a regular basis, EIPS Student Transportation reviews the video recordings, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). The recordings assist the department with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.
